How do I use the ftp server? (Mac) The purpose of this short tutorial is to help you accessing Synæsthesia Studios' ftp server, in order to exchange files during the mastering process. If you already know how to use ftp, this is all you will need to connect to Synæsthesia Studios: - Hostname: ftp.synaesthesiastudios.com - Username: Username@synaesthesiastudios.com - Password: Password - Port: 21 - Mode: Passive Mode If you are new to ftp, here are step-by-step instructions on how to connect to Synæsthesia Studios. All you need to do is download a freeware, and set its parameters properly. After this, you will have unlimited access to and from our ftp server. - Download the freeware Cyberduck: http://cyberduck.ch/ - Double-click on the image file, copy the disk to your Applications folder, and open the program. - The main window appears:
- In the Bookmark menu, select New Bookmark.
A new window appears. This is where you will set the parameters for your ftp account. - In the Nickname field, type "Synaesthesia Studios". - In the Server field, type exactly "ftp.synaesthesiastudios.com". - Leave the port on 21, and the Path empty. - In the Username field, type your Username and add "@synaesthesiastudios.com" after it. - Leave the Protocol and Connect Mode fields on their default values. You will generally want to leave the Encoding field on its default value. If you experience problems during ftp tranfers (e.g. some filenames include accents or such), you may try to use MacRoman instead. - Click on the red button in the upper left corner to close this window. You should now see your Synaesthesia Studios Bookmark on the right of the main window.
- Double-click on it to open the connection to the ftp server. When the connection is established, the main window shows the hierarchy of your account. All you have to do to send your audio files is to drag'n'drop them from the Finder to this window: it automatically launches the upload. Likewise, if you wish to download audio files from the server to your computer, simply drag'n'drop them from this window to the Finder. |
